Symmetry is focused on Building Communities One Family at a Time.  Our mission statement is to “be the leader in providing culturally competent, family driven, community-based services and an integral partner in the Mecklenburg County and regional systems of care for adults, adolescents, children and their families.”  We are committed to the values and guiding principles of System of Care.  The applicant’s business philosophy is based on the following core assumptions:

  1. Family-based interventions are most successful when integrated and holistic; 

  2. Children belong in families and need their family’s support to grow and thrive; and 

  3. All children and families exist in multiple contexts including cultural, social, individual and familial, and their strengths, needs and preferences are dictated by these contexts.

Additionally, SBHS utilizes a wrap-around approach including the Community Health Worker (CHW) model, providing family support services to families and includes:

  • Providing family support services to children, adolescents, adults, families;

  • Conducting intakes and assessments with residents for the development of service plan goals;

  • Management of wrap teams with families to monitor progress on service plan goals;

  • Providing career building services including job readiness, job coaching, and career planning;

  • Providing educational support including GED support, addressing the achievement gap, and vocational services;

  • Providing support for parent skill building; and 

  • Brokering resources, providing advocacy support, crisis intervention, and information & referral.

    We offer different types of services and providing varying levels of support depending on an individual’s unique needs and strengths. Examples of services include case management, group interventions, crisis intervention, brokering services, informational referrals, and community activities. Each of these services are delivered with the intent of meeting the following outcome goals:
